Fukuryu seedlings

Spring is here and the growing season is just beginning here in Australia. The day time temperatures are getting up to 25 degrees and the plants are just starting to break dormancy and grow again.

First shots of the Fukuryu seedlings grafted in February, all are grafted on Hylocereus and some look very promising for the future.

Enjoy.

  1. Molto belle!

Beautiful plants! I'm interesting in astrophitum hybrids since a pair of years ago, I usually use pereskiopsis as stock because I'm not able to keep hylocereus alive during winter season. I noticed that you usally use hylocereus as stock. Is there any reason for this choice? Makes it grow faster the seedlings than pereskiopsis?

  2. Hi,

I find growth rates between the two are similar but I can make larger Hylo stocks quicker and this will increase growth (the larger stock). In addition Hylo is easier to deal with, no annoying golchids to stick in my fingers. Also the Hylo is better at dealing with the weight of larger scions.

    Good luck.
